We hope you were able to attend our Family History Conference in May, but if you missed it, no worries. The recordings will be available until the middle of August. We have a wonderful hybrid monthly meeting coming up next week, a German Special Interest Group meeting, and a class on Catholic church records. In addition, we have updated the StLGS website to include all of the upcoming meetings and classes for the summer. Time to open your calendars and check out the details below!
June StLGS Hybrid Monthly Meeting
June StLGS Hybrid SIG Meeting
StLGS German Special Interest Group (SIG) Meeting: Wednesday, 15 June 2022
"World War I on the Home Front: the German American Experience," by Dr. Petra DeWitt, 7:00 p.m. (Central). In-person meeting will be held at the StLGS office, 4 Sunnen Drive, Maplewood, Missouri 63143.
Dr. DeWitt will outline several organizations initiated during mobilization and explain their impact on the German American community. The war created anti-German sentiments in the U.S. resulting in harassment of some people of German heritage and the renaming of streets, but it did not end German culture in the state. Learn more about the relationship between individuals and local, state, and national institutions during the war.
Special Interest Group meetings are free and open to all, but registration is required. More details and instructions for registering are on the German SIG page on the StLGS website.
