The redesigned St. Louis Genealogical Society website is easier to navigate, easier to search, and now, for the first time, it has been built to work well on phones and tablets as well as desktop computers. With nearly 2,000 pages of indexes, maps, digitized records, research resources, events, and other information, the new site makes it much easier to find and use the genealogical resources available at https://stlgs.org.

Chronicling America: A Treasure at the Library of Congress
One of the best free websites for finding and using American newspapers is Chronicling America, the digital collection at the Library of Congress (LOC). The site has been up and running for years, but a few years ago, the LOC added an interactive map and a historical timeline that make the collection so much more valuable. With the interactive map, the search functionality of the site is enhanced by the ability to pinpoint exact locations for the newspapers in the collection and to be able to access the newspapers according to publication date.

August Genealogy Meetings and Some Announcements
The summer seems to be flying by, and we hope you have been staying cool and haven't been affected by the floods, the heat, or wildfire smoke. You can stay nice and cool at all of our meetings, either in the air-conditioned comfort of our meeting room at the Clark Family Branch of the St. Louis County Library or from your home, if you join us via Zoom. Here's what's coming up, as well as a reminder about our September writing workshop and an announcement about a new Italian Special Interest Group.
