March StLGS Genealogy Meetings and Our 2023 Annual Family History Conference

Our genealogy year is off to a wonderful start! We have been excited to welcome many of you back as our meetings return to in-person. And we are incredibly pleased that many of you are participating in our events virtually when you can't be with us on-site. Thank you all! March is a busy month, as we have begun planning for our 51st annual Family History Conference and for more classes and events later in the year. Here is what is coming up soon . . .

March StLGS Hybrid Monthly Meeting

Saturday, 11 March 2023


"A Treasured Past—Genealogy and Local History at the St. Louis Public Library," presented by manager of the genealogy department, Jacob Baker; 10:00 a.m. (Central); free, open to all. Jacob Baker will provide information about the genealogical collection and a short introduction to the Special Collections department located at the main branch of the St. Louis Public Library. This meeting will be held at the StLGS office in Maplewood, Missouri. Because of limited space, everyone needs to register, regardless of whether you want to attend in-person or via Zoom. March German SIG Meeting


Hybrid meeting: Wednesday, 15 March 2023

"Using Ortssippenbücher to Research Your German Ancestors," by Robin McDonough; 7:00 p.m. (Central); free, open to all. This meeting will be at the Oak Bend branch of the St. Louis County Library. Preregistration only required for Zoom. Ortssippenbücher contain genealogical information about families in a specific town, village, or parish. Information can cover many generations of a family back to the beginning of religious records. Discover how to access and use these books for your German research. Upcoming Class

Classes for StLGS members are hybrid. You may attend in-person or via Zoom. Classes are free for StLGS members. Non-members are welcome to attend in-person classes for a fee. Livestreaming on Zoom and class recordings, however, are only open to society members, so why not join StLGS to get free access to our live and recorded classes!

This will be held as a hybrid event. Join us for a full day of lectures, exhibitors, and a chance to chat over morning coffee or lunch. If you can't attend in person, join us via Zoom. All the lectures will be recorded, and registered attendees will have access to all eight lectures after the conference. For those coming to the Maryland Heights Community Center, a box lunch can be purchased for an optional fee.

Registration for the Conference


Registration for the 2023 Family History Conference is now open. The cost is $60 for StLGS members and $70 for non-members. All of the information you need to register is on our website

Once you have registered, you will receive an invitation to the FHC via the email address you provide. (Note: The email will come to you during the week before the conference.) Those attending in person will receive a paper syllabus. Everyone will have access to the syllabus as a downloadable PDF from a link on our website as well as all eight digital recordings.
