October StLGS Genealogy Meetings and Events

We hope our recent post on pumpkins got you thinking of autumn, even if it still feels summery outside. (Did you miss that blog? You can find it here.) We thank everyone who helped make our Fall Speaker Series so successful, and we look forward to welcoming all of you to some upcoming meetings and classes. Our October monthly meeting will be at the Grant's View branch of St. Louis County Library, but it will also be livestreamed for those who can't attend in person. We have an Irish SIG meeting in October, and some great classes are coming up. More information about everything is below.

October StLGS Hybrid Monthly Meeting

Saturday, 14 October 2023

"Historic Webster Groves Families and Their Ties to the St. Louis Community," presented by Stephen Schoenbeck, archives manager for the Webster Groves Historical Society; 10:00 a.m. (Central); free and open to all.

In-person meeting will be held at the Grant's View branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63123. You can also attend virtually via Zoom.

As you drive the streets of Webster Groves, Missouri, you see names of many prominent families who helped create this historic city. Join Stephen Schoenbeck of the Webster Groves Historical Society as he introduces us to some early St. Louis County residents and shares some of the resources of the society's archives that you might find useful in your own research.

No need to sign up if you plan to attend in person, but, you must register if you plan to attend this meeting via Zoom. More details and instructions are on the StLGS website.

StLGS Irish Special Interest Group (SIG) Meeting

Saturday, 28 October 2023

"Walking in the Footsteps of Irish St. Louis," presented by Chris Naffziger; 1:00 p.m. (Central)

Most St. Louisans with Irish ancestors know about the Kerry Patch neighborhood. But there are many more areas of the city that have Irish roots and many prominent early Irish-American St. Louisans who set the course of the city with their philanthropy and business acumen.

You can attend this meeting in person at the StLGS office or via Zoom. More details and instructions for registering are on the Irish SIG page on the StLGS website.

Upcoming StLGS Hybrid Classes

Classes for StLGS members are hybrid. You may attend in person at our office in Maplewood or via Zoom.
