July Genealogy Meetings and Classes

It's almost July 4th, which means summer has officially begun! Enjoy the upcoming holiday week, but don't forget to get out your calendar and make note of some of our upcoming programs. This month's general meeting will be our last at the Grant's View Branch of the St. Louis County Library system. With the new Clark Family Branch opening on 9 July, we will finally be able to go back to meeting at one location, now with ample room and state of the art technology! We'll have more for you on that soon; meanwhile, please read on for July's offerings. . . .

"Using Obituaries to Learn About our Ancestors and to Connect with Living Relatives," presented by Dan Lilienkamp; 10:00 a.m. (Central) at the Grant's View Branch, St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63123; free, open to all. Newspaper obituaries provide information about relationships between and among family members including people living at the time of publication. Learn how to find and use these important genealogical documents. You do not have to pre-register if you are attending in-person at the library, but if you want to attend via Zoom, you will need to sign up ahead of time. More details and instructions for registering are on the StLGS website.

"The Most Popular Occupations in Ireland Between 1800 and 1900"; 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. (Central) at the St. Louis Genealogical Society Office, 4 Sunnen Drive, Suite 140, Maplewood, MO 63143. Free and open to all. No registration is necessary to attend in person. To attend via Zoom, however, you must register. More information and directions for registering are on the Irish SIG page on our website.

Upcoming Classes 

Classes for StLGS members are hybrid. You may attend in-person at our office or via Zoom. Classes are free for StLGS members. Non-members are welcome to attend in-person classes for a fee. Livestreaming on Zoom and class recordings, however, are only open to society members, so why not join StLGS to get free access to our live and recorded classes!
