And just that quickly, summer is almost over! As we look forward to pumpkin spice everything, shorter days, and, hopefully, cooler evenings, we are gearing up behind the scenes for next year. We will soon have an StLGS election for officers and will be booking our featured speaker for the 2025 Family History Conference, taking our annual research trip to Salt Lake City, and finalizing next year's busy program of meetings, special events, and classes. Meanwhile, here's what's on tap for September.

Upcoming Class
Saturday, 21 September August 2024
Classes for StLGS members are hybrid. You may attend in-person at our office or via Zoom. Classes are free for StLGS members. Non-members are welcome to attend in-person classes for a fee. Livestreaming on Zoom and class recordings, however, are only open to society members, so why not join StLGS to get free access to our live and recorded classes!
- If you are a member of StLGS, please remember to vote for the amended bylaws. Voting will end on 31 August 2024, and we really do want your input. The "Proposed Bylaws Amendments" page has the old and new bylaws for you to compare, and you can vote by scrolling down to the bottom of the page.
- For more German genealogy, our StLGS projects director and specialist in German genealogy, Carol Whitton, is presenting "Following an Ancestor with a German Farm Name (Hofname)," for the St. Clair, Illinois, Genealogical Society on Thursday, 5 September at 7:00 p.m. (Central). This will be a Zoom webinar and is open to everyone. If you missed this talk when Carol last gave it for the StLGS German SIG, you will want to hear her now! Space is limited, but you may still be able to register on the St. Clair Genealogical Society website.
