Ideas for Preserving Your Family Stories: Hands-on Workshop Coming in September!

From Researching to Writing: Preserving Our Family Stories

A Hands-On Experience

Featuring StLGS publications director, Ilene Murray

Saturday, September 26 • 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

St. Louis Genealogical Society Office, 4 Sunnen Dr., Suite 140, St. Louis, MO 63143

Many of us have been researching for years, gathering names, dates, and places, meaning to start writing but somehow never really doing it. Join us for a hands-on workshop with many options for turning those stories you've meant to write into reality. This workshop blends short presentations, live demos, and plenty of time for you to try it yourself.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to get started
  • How to get organized using MS Word
  • How to get to the bottom of family myths
  • How to get past the "I can't write a book" fears with lots of creative alternative ideas

Bring your laptop (or pen and paper), along with any material you might want to use as a basis for story-writing. You'll practice during the day as we share ideas and learn with the group.

Because of the hands-on nature of this workshop, it will be presented as in-person only. Registration includes morning coffee and lunch.

Limited space—

Bonus Class!

Your registration includes an additional class on Saturday afternoon, 3 October, for participants only. We'll have two hours to share, write, edit, ask questions, and receive one-on-one assistance.
