St. Louis Genealogical Society has operated a Trading Post of gently used genealogy books for many years. However, having the society office closed during COVID and because of many generous donations during the past two years but few opportunities to interact with the public, we have built up an almost overwhelming number of used books, and they are priced to sell! The Trading Post is open to anyone coming into our office on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday mornings and is located in the front lobby to the left of the new books for sale. (And, of course, if you live too far to visit, we can ship to you—although we will have to add postage to your order).
If you are looking for books from a specific state or country or a how-to book, we might have it. Our United States books start with Family Maps of Tuscaloosa County, Alabama and go to Wisconsin Atlas & Gazetteer with most states in between. We also currently have books representing Canada, Cuba, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Are you writing a book or article and want help with that? We have books on writing your family history and publishing. Interested in the Civil War, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the Gold Rush in California? We have books on all of these topics. Do you need help with methodology? Can you use ideas for how to find records in a specific location? We have books to help with these also. If you have St. Louis ancestry, you will want to read James Neal Primm’s, Lion of the Valley. We have two copies: one hardcover for $5.00 and a softcover for $3.00.
