Our in-person 2026 Family History Conference, "A Genealogical Journey Through Missouri History," is now a beautiful memory! Although it started as a cold, windy day, the hundred or so people who joined us at the Maryland Heights Community Center were happy and excited to be spending the day enjoying their favorite hobby. And, good news! It really isn't over, since registration for the conference includes a copy of our electronic syllabus and access to all six of the digital recordings. That means if you didn't register at all, you can still do so and watch all of the lectures. All the information you need is below the photos.
Our day began early for the StLGS volunteers who arrived at 7:30 a.m. to unload boxes of books and kitchen supplies so we could provide coffee and doughnuts before the conference began. By the time the first registrants arrived, about an hour later, both the StLGS new and used book exhibit area and our guests from local archives and libraries were all in place and ready for business.
Above, left: Our friends from local archives and libraries were in the back of the main room.
Right: The Trading Post was busy, as people sought and found bargains on gently used books.
Once the announcements were over, people tuned in attentively to our opening speaker, Carol Whitton, followed by Missouri State Archivist, John Dougan, as they spoke first about migration from the east to Missouri and then from Missouri outward to the rest of the country.
After a break for lunch (and more shopping!), attendees split up to participate in two additional lectures of their choice. By the time the last lecture ended, the sun was shining brightly, and a full and interesting day was had by all.
You can still register for the recordings!
All of our speakers have agreed to make their lectures available online for the next ninety days, so if you couldn't attend the conference, you can still register and watch the lectures and receive a copy of the electronic syllabus. Go to the Family History Conference page on our website, where you can register by mail or via our secure online store. All the details you need are on the conference page.
